Eric Stults made his return to the Padres rotation, and pitched brilliantly for the Padres. Stults gave the Padres 5.2 scoreless innings, and the Padres used a two-run fourth inning to beat the Cubs.

The Padres grabbed the lead off of Cubs pitcher Travis Wood, courtesy of RBI singles by Yonder Alonso and Everth Cabrera. The runs were all the Padres staff would need.

The game marked the return of Anthony Rizzo in San Diego. Rizzo went 0-4 with a strikeout. The Cubs only managed five hits on the game.

Stults departed with two outs in the fifth, and the bullpen took it from there. The San Diego bullpen pitched 3.2 innings of perfect ball, including a spotless frame from closer Huston Street. Street picked up his 19th save of the year.

The two teams will do battle once again tomorrow evening at 7:05PM.
