Yasmani Grandal Set to be Recalled by Padres

The Padres have decided to recall one of their top prospects, opting to recall highly-touted catcher Yasmani Grandal from AAA Tucson. The move has been reported and confirmed by Daniel Berk of the Arizona Daily Star.

Grandal who was acquired in the Mat Latos deal, has gotten off to a great start with Tucson, batting .317, with four home runs, and 23 RBI’s, along with a sparkling .421 on-base percentage.  No corresponding move has been reported, but one would have to think that either Nick Hundley or John Baker could be headed to the disabled list. Perhaps this move will allow the Padres to see what they have in Grandal. He has an advanced bat, and has made strides on defense.

The Padres should make a roster move tomorrow, to accommodate Grandal.
