Pop-Up Drills Signal the Start of Full Training

Spring training is now in full swing. Position players reported to camp yesterday, and catchers participated in pop-up drills. The drills as captured by a great video by Corey Brock, are exactly as they sound. Pop ups are sent flying, and the catchers must scramble to get them.

While the video and the drill itself is pretty entertaining, the significance of the drills is more interesting. We no longer have to say baseball is around the corner. Baseball has started. The first full squad workout is today. In about a week, games begin.

The drought is over. It’s seemed longer a longer offseason than normal, but with catchers fielding pop-ups, that all ends, and baseball season begins.
