Padres to Play Spring Game in Tucson

The temporary home of San Diego’s Triple-A club will play host to two Spring Training games this year for big league clubs.  One of those games will feature the San Diego Padres.  The Padres will play at Kino Veteran’s Memorial Stadium – formerly Tucson Electric Park –  on March 18th.

The park once hosted the Diamondbacks and the White Sox for Spring Training until both teams had new parks built in the greater Phoenix metro area.  The Rockies also left town and headed north.  While Tucson still manages to attract a couple games here and there, they no longer have a permanent resident for spring games.

On March 18th, the Padres will face the Colorado Rockies at 1:05 PM.  It will be a return to baseball in a city that has a rich baseball history.  From the Tucson Toros, to the Tucson Sidewinders, to Rockies Spring Training, to White Sox and Diamondbacks Spring Training, Tucson has played host to both Major League and minor league action.

Tickets will be available February 15th via the Tucson Padres website.
