It’s that time of year again Padres fans: salary arbitration time.  During the next month or so, eleven Padres (the most of any team this season) which filed for salary arbitration will be looking to work out deals with San Diego’s front office.  These deals and offers will be based on a number of factors, and San Diego will have its hands full in terms of the volume of players it has to deal with over the next month.

MLB.com’s Scott Merkin reported that 142 players had filed for salary arbitration as of the 13th of January deadline.  That being said, Tuesday January 17th marks the day that the salary arbitration figures will be exchanged and the Padres can get down to “brass tacks” with regards to working out deals with their players.  The ones desiring to go to meetings and have their cases overseen will take place the first three weeks of February (1st-21st) in St. Petersburg, FL.  The full list of the 11 Padres players filing is below:

Starting Pitchers:

Edinson Volquez, Tim Stauffer, Dustin Moseley, Clayton Richard

Relief Pitchers:

Joe Thatcher, Luke Gregerson

Catchers:

John Baker, Nick Hundley

Infielder:

Chase Headley

Outfielders:

Carlos Quentin, Will Venable

As you can see, this list is heavy on the starting pitching.  So let’s cross our fingers that this goes smoothly and Byrnes and Co. can take care of this with little to no issue.
