There are now two dates on the horizon for you Padres fans that can’t wait for baseball to start again: January 7th and February 19th. January 7th is the day that tickets for the Padres 2012 Spring Training go on sale, and February 19th is the day that Pitchers and Catchers report.
Just released on the Padres’ website last week, I figured I would share the highlights of the newly released Spring Training schedule and also discuss a few important dates to remember for those of you that are either interested in making the trip up to Peoria, AZ this spring or seeing a Spring Training game in California as well:
32 total games
16 home games at the Peoria Sports Complex
In addition to Pitchers and Catchers reporting on February 19th, the Position Players will report on February 24th.
Moreover, the Padres will be hosting one Spring Training Game at Petco Park and one at The Diamond in Lake Elsinore, CA on April 3rd and April 4th. (home of their California League affiliate).
I know that I will be attending a few of these games since I live about 2 hours from Peoria. It should be a good chance to see young hot-shot Pitchers like Robbie Erlin, Joe Wieland, and Casey Kelly test their mettle against some big-league bats.
The article also has the information on ticket prices and how to get them, so don’t delay.
