Randy Ready Out as Padres Hitting Coach

It had to come sooner or later after this disappointing 2011 season.  The Padres let go of their Hitting Coach Randy Ready this past Thursday after an uninspiring and less than productive year and a half stint with the club:

Kind of disheartening to see that the Padres have shuffled so many guys in and out of the position over the years.  It alludes to it in the article, but it makes you wonder whether or not Kevin Towers’ “Bonds Proofing” the stadium made it “Baseball Proof” as Bonds said.  G.M. Jed Hoyer discussed the decision to let Ready go and alluded to exactly what the Padres are looking for in their next Hitting Coach as well.

2011 was another down season offensively for the Padres and their 3.7 runs per game in 2011 was their lowest total since 1988.  Hopefully Ready’s replacement can cure what ills the Padres’ bats, because this will be the 5th guy that they have replaced at that position since 2004.  No word yet on who will take his place, but if you’d like to comment on who you would like to see as the new Hitting Coach for the Friars have at it!
