Padres Lose and Split Series With Giants

San Diego Padres 1 – San Francisco Giants 2

The trip to San Francisco started out so promising. We started it out winning the first two games and we had a 5-3 lead and were handing the ball over to the best setup man in the league.

An extra-inning loss yesterday and tonight’s loss leaves us right where we had begun before the series. We remain 10 games back behind the first place Giants.

Tonight, the offense could not put anything together against lefty Barry Zito. Together the team had five hits and the only run came off of a Ryan Ludwick solo home run.

Cory Luebke is the tough luck loser in the battle between the lefty starters. Lueb gave up a pair of runs in his six innings and struck out eight.

Tough game and a tough series. It would have been nice to take at least three games in San Fran, but we head home with the split.
