Padres Take First 2 Games Against the Royals
By Ernie Padaon
San Diego Padres 4 – Kansas City Royals 2
Here we go!! Do not mention the broom word, but the Padres have a chance to sw*** the series! Have we done that yet this year? Correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t remember us doing that yet this year.
Will Venable started out the game striking out, but then we followed with three straight singles. Ryan Ludwick brought in the first run of the game with one of those singles up the middle. In the next inning, we were able to add on to the scoreboard with Cameron Maybin scoring on a Kyle Phillips double and Venable bringing in Phillips with a sac fly.
The pitching shut the Royals offense down, with Clayton Richard getting his fourth win of the season. He went seven innings and struck out five. Mike Adams and Heath Bell shut them down in the late innings and Bell picked up his 22nd save.
We are now tied with the Dodgers in the standings! Progress!!!
