Padres James Darnell and Reymond Fuentes Selected to Futures Game

The Padres have 2 players that have been selected to play in the Futures Game. 3B James Darnell will be part of the US team and OF Reymond Fuentes will be part of the World team.

Darnell from Double-A San Antonio has been on a tear on the farm, hitting 16 home runs and drinving in 57 runs while batting .346. He may get a possible promotion up to Triple-A Tucson with the Padres recently calling up Jesus Guzman to the major league squad.

Also selected to the team was outfielder Reymond Fuentes from Class A Lake Elsinore. Fuentes was brought to the Padres organization as part of the Adrian Gonzalez trade and has been playing well for the Storm. He already has stolen 30 bases and is batting .294 on the season.

One player that was part of the AGon trade did not make the cut for the Futures roster. P Casey Kelly was a big piece of the trade, but didn’t make the cut. He was beat out by Darnell and Fuentes for the roster spots. He has a good future for the team and has been doing a good job in Double-A San Antonio also.
