Padres will retire Trevor Hoffman’s #51 on August 21

The San Diego Padres just announced that we will be retiring Trevor Hoffman‘s number 51 jersey on August 21 following the game against the Florida Marlins. Make sure to get your tickets to celebrate the best closer in the league.

It is perfect that he will retire his jersey against the team that he started his career with. He started his rise to greatness as a Florida Marlin and then was traded to the Padres as part of the Gary Sheffield deal. Not a bad deal for both teams.

Trevor has been one of the icons on the team and hopefully we can see a statue out in Padres Park right next to Mr. Padre Tony Gwynn. I wonder if they can retire Hell’s Bells from being played for any player also? Trevor deserves it all for what he has done for the team!
