Anthony Bass solid in first start for Padres

The Padres brought up another youngster by the name of Anthony yesterday to make a spot start for the injured Dustin Moseley. We added Anthony Rizzo a few days ago and yesterday we brought up Anthony Bass. He may have a few more starts coming his way with the status of Moseley up in the air and Aaron Harang heading on the disabled list recently.

Bass made his major league debut last night in hitter friendly Colorado and slowed down the Rockies offense. He pitched 5 innings of ball and held them to only one run and was very efficient with his pitches. He would have gone longer into the game, but a long rain delay ended his night early. He picked up the win and showed a lot of poise on the mound. He worked out of a couple of jams and should get another opportunity to start.

Bass has a bright future with the team and was just selected to the Double-A All Star team. If he keeps impressing then he should find himself making more starts in major league ballparks.
