Time for the Padres to dump Jorge Cantu and call up Jesus Guzman

It is time to move on from the Jorge Cantu project. He is an automatic out in the lineup, whether he is grounding into a double play, getting K’d up, or getting Petco’d. He just has not been a solid bat as the corner infielder off the bench.

We should bring up Jesus Guzman from Triple-A Tucson to get his chance on the big league stage with the Padres. He has been playing well down on the farm and his promotion would allow another prospect to be promoted to Triple-A. James Darnell is one of the top prospects in Double-A San Antonio and he could be promoted if Guzman is called up.

What should we do with Cantu then? We do the same thing that we did with Eric Patterson, try to find someone that may want to trade for him, but otherwise just cut our losses. I was a fan of the Cantu signing in the offseason, but it just has not panned out. Guzman can be the corner infielder off the bench.

Let move on and make this happen!
