Padres player moves today

The team made a bunch of moves today! Unless you were living under a rock, you already should know that the Padres have called up Anthony Rizzo, Rizzomania is going wild right now at Petco and hopefully he is able to deliver up to the hype.

Here are the rest of the team moves on the day:

We recalled outfield Will Venable to be the fourth outfielder and he is needed to backup in centerfield. He can also be a defensive replacement for Brad Hawpe of Chris Denorfia late in the game. He still leads the team in stolen bases and he can be a threat as a pinch runner also.

We also brought back Evsn Scribner to help out in the bullpen. He was up earlier in the season and did a good job in middle relief.

In order to make room on the roster, the Padres sent Aaron Cunningham back down to Triple-A Tucson. Luke Gregerson was placed on the disabled list with an oblique strain. Ernesto Freiri and Chad Qualls will share the 7th inning duty while Gregerson is out.

We also designated OF/2B Eric Patterson for assignment. Patterson struggled with the bat with the team and had his struggles on the bases as well.
