San Diego Padres 3 – Colorado Rockies 5

The bullpen gave up the win tonight against the Rockies with Heath Bell allowing a couple of runs to score in the ninth inning when the game was tied. Heath Bell gets his 2nd loss of the season and the Padres lose the series against the Colorado Rockies.

The offense struggled again with runners in scoring position again going 2-for-9 in those situations. Eric Patterson did not help the team on the basepaths by getting caught stealing once and getting picked off also. The team had 8 singles on the night and the only extra base hit came from Patterson.

The Padres pitching staff could not stop the Rockies middle of the order. Todd Helton and Troy Tulowitzki went a combined 7-for-8 on the night and they drove in 4 of the team’s 5 runs. Tulo drove in the deciding runs in the 9th inning with a 2-RBI double.

The Padres will have to get after it tomorrow against the Nationals. They hope to get a boost from the youngster Anthony Rizzo who will be making his major league debut tomorrow.
