The Struggles Continue on the Road

San Diego Padres 1 – Washington Nationals 2

We were all hoping that hitting the road would spark the offense back up. Hoping that the offense struggled because of PETCO Park, but the struggles at the plate continued in Washington. Padres pitcher Clayton Richard pitched 7 strong innings and only gave up a single run. For most ball clubs, that type of performance would mean a ‘W’. With the Padres, he was close to getting the loss until Jason Bartlett hit his first home run in a Padres uniform in the ninth inning.

The Padres offense was lost at the plate, racking up EIGHT strikeouts against pitchers John Lannen and Drew Storen. The offense was only able to muster up 3 hits and only had one runner in scoring position for the whole night.

Mike Adams came on in the bottom of the ninth hoping to extend the game into extra innings, but he allowed a walk-off homerun to 1B Michael Morse on his second pitch of the game.

Another bad day for Padres fans.
