Another Day, Another Padres Loss
By Ernie Padaon
Milwaukee Brewers 4 – San Diego Padres 3
The Padres just can’t get a streak of wins going. They win a ballgame and they lose the next one. Their longest win streak of the season stands at 2 games.
We entered the game with a 1-game streak and were looking to match our highest streak with a win against the Brewers. Zach Greinke and the Brewer defense stopped the Padres from getting that victory. Greinke was pitching in his second game in a Brewer uniform and he pitched 6 innings and struck out 9 of our boys. We struck out 12 times in the game and it is the 11th time this season that we have had double digit strikeouts.
The Padres looked like they were about to rally in the 8th inning from a 2-run deficit when they had runners at the corners with no outs. Jason Bartlett grounded a ball up the middle and Yuniesky Betancourt may have made the play of the year by snatching the ball and throwing it behind him with his glove hand and having it turned for a double play. Rally killed!
Mat Latos has been winless all season long and now has an 0-5 record on the season. He has been struggling early in games and settling down too late.
