Another tough loss for Latos and the boys

San Diego Padres 3 – Houston Astros 5

W: Mark Melancon (1-0)
L: Mat Latos (0-2)
S: Brandon Lyon (3)

The Padres are one of the few teams in the league that have not been able to put a winning streak together and that streak will continue after suffering a loss against the Houston Astros today. It seems rare for the Padres to put together 3 runs lately and we were able to put together that many runs today. Unfortunately, starter Mat Latos was not able to stop the Astros from putting up 5 runs.

The pitchers almost have to be perfect right now and have to give up very little runs if they expect to compete. Latos just was not able to be the stopper today.

The Padres left 8 men-on-base and were 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position. Just more wasted opportunities by the Padres and the hitters. Brad Hawpe finally was able to drive in his second RBI of the season in the effort.
