Versatile utility player, Eric Patterson, likely to start season on DL
By Ernie Padaon
Utility player Eric Patterson played well during the spring and he was on his way to earn a job with the big league team to start the season. Unfortunately he was bitten by the injury bug and will be forced to start out the season on the disabled list. He is slowed by a hamstring injury and the team wants to make sure that the injury is fully healed before bringing him back.
"This is an injury where we want to be sure when he comes back that his hamstring is in a condition where he can play his game. Speed is a big part of his game. – Bud Black"
His ability to play all over the outfield and at second base will be a huge addition to the bench. He also has a lot of speed on the base paths and can be used to pinch run late in games.
