Bullpen pitches strong to get the win in extra innings

Aaron Harang pitched 5 innings and gave up 3 earned runs. He threw 99 pitches in the game in preparation for the regular season. Harang gave up a home run to last season’s AL MVP Josh Hamilton in the first inning.

The bullpen pitched 5 scoreless innings of relief and only gave up one hit to lead that Padres to the win. Pat Neshek pitched in his second game since coming over from the Minnesota Twins and gave up that hit. Ernesto Freiri, Cory Luebke, Randy Flroes, and Greg Burke also pitched an inning of relief.
