Padres get their swings in against the Rangers in 15-5 win
By Ernie Padaon
Padres 15 – Rangers 5
W: Clayton Richard (1-1)
L: Michael Kirkman (0-1)
Sometimes it feels like there should be a mercy rule in spring training. At one point, the Padres held a 14-1 lead against Texas Rangers. Cameron Maybin powered the offense with a solo home run and went 2-for-3 at the plate. He also made the defensive play of the game sprinting into the gap in right center field to rob the Rangers of extra bases. Both Jorge Cantu and Chris Denorfia drove in 3 runs each.
Clayton Richard pitched in his second spring outing and completed four strong innings allowing one earned run and striking out 3. Heath Bell had a rough outing in relief giving up four runs while only getting 2 outs in the 7th inning.
