Padres bullpen struggles in loss to Royals

Cameron Maybin returned to the lineup tonight after resting on the sidelines with concussion like symptoms. Maybin hit his head during fielding drills and has missed a few games in the Spring. He had 2 plate appearances and did not get a hit.

Brad Hawpe started at first base and hit his first home run of the spring out to left field. He finished the game with 2 hits in his 3 plate appearances.

Pitcher Dustin Moseley is competing for the 5th spot in the rotation and pitched well in his Spring outing. He pitched 3 innings and gave up no runs with a strikeout. He kept the ball on the ground and allowed his defense to make the plays. He recorded 7 ground ball outs in his outing.

The Padres bullpen gave up a run in each of the final 5 innings starting with setup man Mike Adams giving up 5 runs in the top of the 5th inning.

The final score was Kansas City Royals 11 – San Diego Padres 3.
