The San Diego Padres signed one of the players that was eligible for arbitration. They signed SS Jason Bartlett to a 2-year deal worth $11 million with a vesting option for the 2013 season.
Bartlett will be paired with newly acquired 2B Orlando Hudson for the next 2 years. It will mark the first time since 2005 (Loretta and Greene) this has happened for the Padres if they remain there for the next 2 years. This also shows that there is no immediate help in the farm system at the shortstop postion.
