San Diego Padres Closer Heath Bell is recovering from typhoid fever:

"While in Maui, the two-time All-Star, was hospitalized with what was later diagnosed as typhoid fever, a bacterial infection that worked its way into Bell’s bloodstream on their trip to Tavarua 10 days earlier. – Corey Brock"

Bell was on vacation renewing his wedding vows when he ate something bad that got him sick.

"Typhoid fever, also known as typhoid,[1] is a common worldwide illness, transmitted by the ingestion of food or water contaminated with the feces of an infected person – wikipedia"

GM Jed Hoyer went on the radio on Wednesday and said that Heath Bell will likely be the opening day closer for the Padres. Bell has been mentioned in possible trade rumors this off-season. He is a 2x all-star and is the leader to one of the best bullpens in the league.

It is good to hear that he is recovering well from the fever and that he got to the hospital to get treated before anything serious happened.
