Jason Bartlett Deal “Off For Now”

Remember yesterday when Jason Bartlett was the San Diego Padre Shortstop? This morning, the report is that the deal is off, for now?!? Maybe the Devil Rays realized that Cesar Ramos had a huge ERA in PETCO Park?

We will have to just wait and see if this deal goes through. Otherwise, the Padres will have to look elsewhere for a starting shortstop. The Padres may be interested in STL SS Brendan Ryan if this deal falls apart.

“just kidding!! can i have better pitchers” – devil rays

Apparently it’s not “off”, it’s just still “pending”. The Rays just want a second opinion on something their physicals found in one of the pitchers. Even if they reject that player after the second opinion, the trade can still be restructured. I hope it’s not Ramos, or we’d have trouble finding an alternate LH major-league-ready reliever, especially for a one year SS who will be a FA for 2012.
