Padres Sign Dustin Moseley

The Padres signed free agent pitcher Dustin Moseley to compete for the 5th spot in the starting rotation. Moseley recently spent time with the New York Yankees in their bullpen and as a spot starter. He was signed for 1 year at $900,000.

The Padres will get an off-speed type pitcher that can spot start or be the #5 guy. He is a ground ball pitcher and lives on the corners of the strike zone. He will not get a lot of strikeouts but he will be able to pitch 6-7 innings. He should do really well with a good defensive infield. We will have to see who the Padres bring in to play the infield. He will definitely enjoy the pitcher’s heaven called PETCO Park.

Moseley will join a rotation of Aaron Harang, Mat Latos, Clayton Richard, and Tim Stauffer. Moseley is familiar with manager Bud Black from their days in Anaheim. The Padres still may look to bring in another starting pitcher. He has a career 12-11 record and a 5.28 ERA.
