NL All-Stars Finally Win

The NL All-Stars broke up a long string of losing to their AL counterparts, winning the 81st MLB All-Star Game 3-1.

Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez was 0-for-2 in the winning effort, and reliever Heath Bell retired the only batter he faced–Los Angeles Angels outfielder Torii Hunter.

The win secures home-field advantage for the NL pennant winners in the World Series, a development that undoubtedly thrills the Padres, as their home stadium, Petco Park, gives the team one of the bigger home-field advantages in baseball. The Padres are 27-19 there this season.

Congratulations to the NL All-Stars for finally holding off the AL for nine innings.
