Cumberland, Castro to Represent Padres in Futures Game

In an announcement that shouldn’t come as particularly surprising, Drew Cumberland and Simon Castro have been named the Padres’ players in the 2010 Futures Game.

Makes sense, huh? You got the shortstop with the .365 average on the US team, and one of the best pitching prospects in baseball on the World team. Sounds good to me.

With Jaff Decker, Logan Forsythe, James Darnell, and Wynn Pelzer all having their struggles this year, Cumberland’s probably the best pick for the US side, and Castro is pretty obvious (although Juan Oramas is making a hell of a case to be the best international prospect in the Padres organization).

Anyway, congratulations to Cumberland and Castro for their achievements.
