49 down, one to go…

The Padres wrapped up their 2010 draft by selecting 22-year-old UC Santa Barbara senior outfielder Gunnar Terhune.

Terhune hit a modest .280/.358/.384 as a senior. He did steal 17 bases in 22 attempts.

The right-handed hitter also plays solid defense in the outfield, showcasing good fundamentals, enough range to handle center, and a playable arm.

He likely won’t hit enough to make a pro impact, but cut the Padres a break–1503 players were selected before Terhune. At that point, who would you have picked?

And with that, the Padres’ draft ended. And now, my long, grueling run of profiling all 50 selections ends. I’ll be posting a more macro-look at the draft later today or tomorrow, so stay tuned for that. Hope you enjoyed the draftee profiles!
