Padres Select HS OF Dominick Francia in 46th Round of 2010 MLB Draft

The Padres love speedy guys, and they grabbed one late in the draft with high school outfielder Dominick Francia, who successfully converted all 25 of his steal attempts this year.

Francia, 18, is an athletic, heady player who is committed to Louisiana-Lafayette. He has an asking price higher than what most teams wanted to give him, so he slipped and likely won’t sign unless the Padres make him a sizeable offer.

The lefty hit .415 last season and shows good range in the outfield and some pop at the plate.

Francia likely won’t sign unless the Padres can’t sign some of their higher picks and take some of the saved money from not signing them and throw it Francia’s way.
